Christmas is fast approaching. Every year at 1000 Lakeside – home to the Douglas Stafford Head Office team – there is a Christmas cake decorating contest and we take part every year.
In previous years the entries from our head office have been amazing, but we just hadn’t quite managed to nab that top spot just yet! This year we had a team of five budding decorators: our very own Sarah Nation, Will Disberry, Josephine Stacey, Chloe Brown and Aaron Mackay.
The team were able to plan some fantastic ideas before the big event held on Wednesday 2nd December. Name chosen, and decorations planned out, the Five Pipers Piping were armed with their icing and ready for the challenge ahead.
When the day finally came around, the team was the first up to take part in the challenge…

Ingredients at the ready, the Pipers were off to a flying start. Each had an individual job to do: Sarah made the wonderful sugar icing penguins from scratch, Chloe and Aaron created a fantastic Christmas tree with a star and baubles and Will made presents to put under the tree. With a healthy dusting of glitter, the cake was finished.

At four o’clock the results came in… And Douglas Stafford took the grand prize!
The team were surprised and proud, as the other entries were all beautiful and it really was stiff competition.
The team decided to donate our cake to the raffle for the Charity Christmas Lunch taking place at Lakeside on Sunday 13th December.
