A team member from Douglas Stafford is raising money for charity by taking part in this year’s Morrison’s Great South Run.
Poppy Dugan, who works in the Scheduling Department at the Douglas Stafford head office in Portsmouth, is running the 10-mile event with her father, in memory of her late grandmother, Sheila.
Poppy is raising money for the Moving Forward charity, which provided vital care and support for her grandmother before she passed away.
Poppy said: “My grandmother lost both of her legs and her arm to diabetes and MRSA. Moving Forward provided her with new prosthetics, taught her how to adapt in her home and carry out her day-to-day tasks.
“When she passed away in 2006, Moving Forward opened a garden at St Mary’s Hospital for patients to enjoy some peace and quiet. They named it Sheila’s Garden in memory. I feel like I want to give something back to the charity.”
Ahead of the Run, which takes place on October 25th, Poppy has been training several times a week.
“I’ve never taken part in an event like this before, so I am quite nervous. But knowing I am raising money for such a worthy cause will keep me going,” said Poppy.
