A team member from Douglas Stafford is preparing to go to extreme heights to raise money for charity – by abseiling down the south coast’s tallest landmark.

John Ellis, who works in the Video Editing and Quality Control Department at the mystery shopping and performance improvement company’s head office in Portsmouth, is raising money for The Rowans Hospice.

John, who is being supported by friends, family and colleagues at Douglas Stafford, will abseil more than 300ft down the 520ft high Emirates Spinnaker Tower on July 13th.

And what makes the challenge even more impressive is the fact John is scared of heights.

John said: “I’ve always been someone who likes to take on new challenges and opportunities, so I have some interesting stories to tell in the future. I also regularly give to charities, so this is a fun way to mix the two together.

“I have never done anything like this before. Ironically, heights is actually my one fear, so you could say I’m abseil-utely terrified!”

John explained his reasons for supporting T?he Rowans Hospice – which is also the nominated 2015 Charity of the Year for Douglas Stafford.

He said: “The Rowans Hospice does a fantastic job of helping people feel as comfortable as possible. One of my closest friends recently lost her mum, who was like a second mum to me too, and the Rowans Hospice was amazing and there for her. They deserve all of the support they can get.”
