It’s that time of year again where thousands of music lovers descend to fields across the country- as the UK festival season gets into full swing.
For the last few months, organisers of the country’s biggest music festivals have been booking in some of the world’s hottest acts to perform this summer.
The first big music festival of the year is the Isle of Wight Festival at Seaclose Park, Newport this weekend (11th-14th). Some of the big name acts on the line-up include Blur, Pharrell Williams, The Prodigy, Jess Glynne and Fleetwood Mac.
Speaking exclusively to Douglas Stafford Head of Communications, Jamie White, Festival curator and music agent, John Giddings, said: “I’m most looking forward to seeing Fleetwood Mac as it’s been a lifetime ambition for them to play the Isle of Wight Festival.
“The Isle of Wight Festival is a must for any music fan because of the great music, great atmosphere and the location.”
John admitted he’s been delighted with the reaction by music fans in recent months, after announcing the acts. He said: “Judging by the reaction, everyone says it is the best line-up we have ever had. I can’t wait to watch Pharrell on the Island again. Since he has forged his Solo career he has become a worldwide superstar and is very keen to the return to the Island.”
Also this weekend, Donington Park plays host to Download. Acts include Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Muse and Kiss.
Between June 24th-28th, Somerset will be bouncing to the sounds of Glastonbury. Some of the acts already confirmed for the expected 250,000 revellers, include Kanye West, Foo Fighters, Florence and the Machine and Lionel Richie.
Drake, Major Lazer, Kendrick Lamar and David Guetta are just some of the worldwide superstars set to perform at Wireless Festival, which takes place at London’s Finsbury Park on July 3rd-5th. Also, on June 28th, Drake, Rita Ora and Katy B will join other stars for a special Wireless 10 event to celebrate a decade of the music festival.
The biggest party in Scotland – T in the Park – will host Kasabian, Sam Smith, The Script and many more on the weekend on July 10th-12th at Strathallan Castle, Perthshire.
Noel Gallagher and Alt-J are two of the confirmed acts for Latitude, which takes place at Henham Park, Sussex between July 16th-19th.
The family-friendly Camp Bestival has De La Soul and Laura Mvula amongst the top acts confirmed for the event, which is being held at Lulworth Castle, Dorset on July 31st-August 3rd.
Calvin Harris and The Stereophonics will headline V Festival 2015 on August 22nd and 23rd at Hylands Park, Essex and Weston Park, Staffordshire.
This year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals take place on August 28th-30th and have top acts Mumford and Sons, The Libertines and Bastille confirmed on the bill.
Dance festival, Creamfields, takes place on the same weekend in Daresbury, Cheshire and boasts The Chemical Brothers, Gorgon City and Annie Mac as just some of the superstar DJs set to hit the decks.
Bestival at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight, officially marks the end of the UK festival season on September 10th-13th. Curator, Rob da Bank, has announced top acts including The Jacksons, Underworld, Mark Ronson and Duke Dumont – with more to be revealed – to round off 2015 in style.
