BBC Radio Solent appearance for Douglas Stafford CEO Nigel Cook
By Jamie White – Head of Communications
The Chief Executive of mystery shopping and performance improvement company, Douglas Stafford, has been on BBC Radio Solent today, as the company prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
Nigel Cook was invited onto the Katie Martin Afternoon Show to talk about the success of the company and how it has grown since it was founded in 1989.
Katie asked Nigel why he set up the company and what was the driving force behind it?
“I was working in the automotive industry and wanted to test the levels of customer service my staff were providing and improve it. But at the time, there were no companies that could do that for me, so I decided to set up my own,” said Nigel.
In the early years, Douglas Stafford worked solely in the automotive industry, and the company now works with a high percentage of the UK’s leading motor manufacturers and dealer groups.
“We have many clients in the automotive industry, but we also now have many clients in the retail, telecommunications, property and leisure industries,” added Nigel.
Presenter Katie went on to ask Nigel why mystery shopping is so important in today’s market place?
“The importance of good customer service can never be underestimated. We provide companies with video mystery shopping, electronic mystery shopping, telephone mystery shopping and report-based mystery shopping programmes, to analyse their levels of service and then help them improve through performance coaching,” said Nigel.
Nigel’s appearance on BBC Radio Solent kicked off the Douglas Stafford anniversary celebrations, which culminate tomorrow evening with a grand party at the south coast’s most iconic building, the Spinnaker Tower.
During Friday and Saturday, lucky Douglas Stafford team members who won a prize draw will be taking to the water on board the 40ft Beneteau sailing yacht, Lady Diane and also experiencing an exhilarating RIB ride.
